Michelle Heidemann is a registered professional architect with 15 years experience. She established her home based studio,
Onyx Architects in 2017.
Onyx Architects offer full architectural design services from concept through to completion. Projects range from residential
to wineries with a strong emphasis on creating sustainable and quality architecture.
Michelle’s aim is to continue with her solo career. Onyx Architects enables her to remain involved in every aspect of the design
and documentation processes. It also translates into well-researched, well-executed, happy-client projects through her personal
approach.
Interior Design Studio
In 2018 Onyx Architects was tasked to assist with the interior design on one of their architecture projects.
Onyx Adjuvant was
established as the interior design branch to the Onyx family and this expansion injected a holistic approach into the studio’s work.
About
After completing her Bachelor of Architectural Studies
and Bachelor of Architecture Degrees at the University
of Cape Town in 2005, Michelle began her training with
the inspiring duo of Nemone Bieldt and Gideon Scott
at Indigo Architects in Cape Town.
She later joined VBV Architects in Stellenbosch under
the leadership of Hein Visser & Gunther Kapperer. After
ten years with the firm, now known as VKdB Architects,
Michelle swapped her associate architect position for
motherhood. In 2015 her new venture began which led
to the rise of Onyx Architects.
Onyx Architects (Pty) LTD is registered with the
South African Council for Architectural Profession,
the South African Institute of Architects and the
Cape Institute for Architecture.
